Maria Nunes wins the Shirley Rose Bowl

The Shirley Rose Bowl, a ladies tournament played in the stableford format off 7/8 handicap, was held on Tuesday April 8 2008. The Trophy, which was presented by Shirley Rose Hutton, was first played for in 1937 and is one of the oldest tournaments in the history of the Club. The 2008 winner was Maria Nunes, with 40 stableford points, followed by Elizabeth Lawrence (36) and Amoy Chang Fong (35).  For Maria, who made a rare appearance in competitive play, it was a nostalgic return to winner’s row as she last won the trophy as a 10 year old in 1977.
